Welcome to HotelGuide.Networks' directory of hotels and hotel reviews for Raleigh, North Carolina!

Founded as North Carolina’s capital in 1792 and named for Sir Walter Raleigh who attempted establishing the first English colony on shores of the new world in the 1580s, Raleigh is the largest of cities in what’s known as the Research Triangle. The Raleigh - Durham - Chapel Hill triangle, between the Atlantic Ocean and the Appalachians and showcasing North Carolina State, Duke, and the University of North Carolina, forms a powerful unit with shared resources long-renowned for academic excellence. Research Triangle Park, among the world’s largest planned research parks, spans 7,000 acres in Wake and Durham counties. Adding to the region’s rarefied air are superior theater, symphony, and visual arts options. For tight budgets, Greater Raleigh touts "20 Free Things to Do," including the J.C. Raulsten Arboretum, the North Carolina Museum of History, the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences, the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame, and the N.C. Executive Mansion, with an interior once labeled by FDR as the "most beautiful governor’s mansion in America."

Historic Oakwood, a neighborhood of 19th century Victorian homes, is on the National Register of Historic Places. With more than 500 restaurants, Greater Raleigh also has a full larder of Carolina favorites from rib-sticking barbeque hangouts to brewpubs, plus Italian bistros, Pan-Asian eateries, and Caribbean-flavor outposts. Nightlife centers in the City Market, Glenwood South, and Warehouse District. For shoppers, major malls include Cameron Village, Cary Tone Center, Crabtree Valley Mall, North Hills and Triangle Town Center. Greater Raleigh’s accommodations include more than 120 hotels, from bed and breakfasts to luxury properties, with more in the pipeline. Opening in 2007 is the Umstead Hotel & Spa near William B. Umstead State Park, and opening in 2008 is the 264-room Westin Raleigh with a spa and heated indoor pool.
